Jessica lived in Korea from February 2015- June 2016, teaching ESL for 1 year at a Hagwon in Changwon, then later studying intermediate Korean at the Buddhist Geumgang University just outside of Nonsan. Jessica is originally from a small town in Ontario, and graduated from Film Studies at York University in Toronto. After seeing Peppermint Candy 박하사탕 (1999), and volunteering for both the Reel Asian Film Festival and the Toronto Korean Film Festival, she fell in love with Korean cinema and wanted to learn more about the culture. After studying Korean and East Asian culture in university, Jessica decided to learn about Korea first hand. After 500 days abroad, Jessica learnt more not only about Korea, but also about herself as a teacher and a student.
