Korean Hip-Hop and RnB Corner – February

I can’t believe we are in February already! This year seems to be flying by. Before we get any further into 2018, I want to be sure to update everyone on which idol groups or solo artists are coming to North America as well as new music I’ve found this month. Have you found a song or an artist you like? Let me know in the comments below!

Songs of the Month

I think it would great to continue this year with two songs of the month instead of trying to find my favorite one so the first song I selected is from a rookie group called Day Mood. They’ve released three songs from their debut album and my favorite is called “Venus”. It’s a smooth mid-tempo R&B groovy song that seems to be perfect for relaxing on a warm summer evening. I wish I could have gathered more information about this duo, but they remain a mystery. I hope that as their popularity builds, we can find out more about them.

The second song of the month goes to Jay Park for his song “Run It. Good grief this song is amazing. If you ever have a bad day and need something to perk you up, listen to this song. Trust me, it will get you so amped up to do, well anything really, you won’t be disappointed. Jay Park tapped Jessi and Woo Won-Jae to feature on the song and they both fit the style of the music perfectly. The MV was an ad for Nike and I really wish it were longer because I love seeing people training for their various sports. It makes me feel like I need to be training for something. This song is uplifting so check it out if you haven’t yet.

SXSW Lineup Favorites

I won’t be attending this year’s SXSW, which I’m sad about, but good grief the prices. So even though I’m not going, I wanted to talk a bit about the lineup for the Korea Spotlight. SXSW will take place in Austin, TX from March 12-18 and the Korea Spotlight showcase happens on March 16th (the same day as Zion.T’s concert in New York). Of the Korean artists that were announced, I’m really looking forward to hearing how DPR Live, Sik-k and pH-1 will be. I’ve been fans of them for a while, so I feel proud that they are going to be performing at such a big festival. I know Crush and Jay Park will be amazing. Let me know if you will be attending and which artist you’re looking forward to seeing.
