Korean Hip-Hop and R&B Corner – October

Hello dear readers! We’ve made it to Fall and the cooler weather has me wanting to slow down and appreciate some smoother vibes. This month we are discussing two songs of the month because I really couldn’t decide between them. There are still a lot of concerts happening within the next few months, both in Canada and in the US, so hopefully you have some cash stashed away for tickets. Read on and see what new music we can learn about this month!

Song of the Month

This month we will be discussing two songs because I really couldn’t decide. The first song is an R&B groove from Hayana called “Desperado”. I was able to meet Hayana during a festival and enjoyed her so much, I ran home and tried to find every bit of information about her that I could. Hayana debuted in 2012 with the group Evol. After the group disbanded, Hayana released a few singles that had a definite smooth R&B feel. “Desperado” is my favorite because the harmonies caught my ear and I can play it over and over without getting tired of it. Check it out and let me know what you think!

The second song of the month is from Geeks rapper Louie. Geeks is a hip-hop duo under Grandline Entertainment and have been around since 2011. Louie released a solo album back in 2014 called Inspiration. I knew of Louie through Geeks but I didn’t know about his solo album until I went to a fan meeting he had in Virginia. After hearing his story, I went online to find his music and was blown away! I wish he had more recognition because his songs are superb. Listen to “Where You At” and tell me whether you’d still blast it in your car or not.
