I know it’s been over a month since KCON 2017 LA presented by Toyota wrapped up but some moments are worth re-living and KCON’s Sunday Night Red Carpet was one of them. (Check out our photos from the Saturday Red Carpet here.) Those lucky enough to attend this year’s 3-day Hallyu extravaganza are welcome to join me in a few moments of sweet reminiscing; while those of you who weren’t able to make it to this year’s event are more than welcome to experience a little bit of the magic vicariously through this small collection of photos. Either way, I hope you enjoy some of my favorite pics from this second night of Red Carpet fun.
WANNA ONE was the first to walk the Red Carpet Sunday night and oh my goodness! If they aren’t the cutest little bunch of munchkins, I don’t know who is! Having debuted barely 2 weeks before their KCON appearance, it was clear they were a bit nervous making their first U.S. appearance. Lucky for them, they had nothing to worry about as fans (myself included) were more than happy to welcome them to LA. I think it’s safe to say the boys left the stage that night knowing they were loved.
KIM TAE WOO
It’s a bit difficult to describe what it’s like seeing an actual music legend standing less than 3 feet in front of you. To say I had a moment, when Kim Tae Woo made his appearance on the Red Carpet, would be an understatement. Charming fans with his hearty greeting and warm smile, I felt more than a bit dazzled. Lucky for us all, even in my dazed state, I had enough wits about me to capture this rare moment in the presence of greatness on film.
Going from Kim Tae Woo to Heize was more than a little overwhelming for the fangirl in me. Having the woman, whose voice I’ve come to associate with some of my most favorite dramas, standing right in front of me was like a dream come true. As sweet and humble as you could ever hope a celebrity to be, Heize greeted her fans with charm and grace. If ever there were a smile to warm a person’s heart, it would be hers and I’m pretty sure, she took more than a few hearts home with her that night.
OH MY GIRL
OH MY GIRL was next to walk the Red Carpet that night and I nearly died when they made their appearance decked out in flouncy skirts and cute smiles. Augh! They were just so darn adorable! I wanted to scoop them all up, put them in my pocket and bring them home with me. (Because, apparently, having 4 girls of my own just isn’t enough.) Greeting their fans with an overwhelming abundance of cuteness, these girls were clearly excited to be making an appearance at this year’s convention, as were their incredibly enthusiastic fans.
Speaking of fans… the crowd went absolutely crazy when the next group, K.A.R.D, stepped out on the Red Carpet. So much so, it would be hard for outsiders to know that this talented co-ed quartet had only debuted about a month prior to their KCON appearance. It’s hard to say who was more excited about K.A.R.D’s appearance at KCON, the fans or the group. Either way, it was a very excited and memorable moment for pretty much everyone there.
ASTRO was next to walk the Red Carpet and I’m not even going to try to pretend like I was unfazed by their appearance. Having made my stance on ASTRO very clear when they appeared at KCON LA last year, it should be pretty obvious that I had a serious fangirl moment when these 6 boys made their appearance that night. Oh dear sweet baby flying monkeys! I thought I was gonna die! Of course Rocky would have to be the one standing right in front of me… Yeah… At least I can take comfort in knowing I wasn’t the only one dying that night. Nope! There were plenty of other AROHAs around to die right along with me. On the bright side, at least we all died happy!
I’d like to be able to tell you that my moments of extreme fangirling were limited to that one moment with ASTRO but that would be a lie. In all honesty, every moment that followed was a new moment of internal fangirl excitement and it only got worse when NCT 127 made their Red Carpet appearance. Having been lucky enough to see these boys in New York a couple of months earlier, I thought I was prepared to see them again. But… I wasn’t. It seems that seeing these boys perform in person only made me love them more. Which is why I spent a good portion of their time of the Red Carpet dying. Oh but what a happy death that was!
And then GOT7 came to drive that final nail into my coffin. You’d think that after seeing these boys more times than I can count, I’d be immune to their charms but nope! Seeing them walk the Red Carpet that night brought on all the fangirly feels. *Sigh* I know, I’m pathetic but at least I wasn’t the only one having a moment. I’m pretty sure the deafening squeals of the other Ahgases in the room could be heard ringing throughout the convention center. At least GOT7 left the room knowing they are very much loved!
It’s safe to say that being a part of this year’s convention was one of the highlights of my summer, if not my entire year. While the rush of emotions that accompanies such an event has long since faded, the memories I have will last me a lifetime. I’m just happy I got to share a few of them with you.
What was your favourite moment at KCON? Who would you like to see walk the red carpet?
