KCON 2017 NY: Friday Night’s Red Carpet

One of the highlights of every KCON USA presented by Toyota is watching the idols scheduled to perform during that evening’s concert strut their stuff on the red carpet that very same day. There’s just something about seeing these idos up close and person, mere hours before they take the stage, that makes the whole KCON experience that much more exciting and in some ways, that much more personal. I guess it has something to do with being able to not only see idols, but hear them chat with the event’s MC and interact with fans and all that. It’s just one of the many experiences that makes KCON so unique and Friday night’s Red Carpet in New York didn’t disappoint!

KNK

YNB Entertainment’s rookie group, KNK, was the first to walk the Red Carpet on Friday night. I have to admit, having fallen in love with these guys pretty much the second they debuted, I was more than a little excited to see these five derpy giants in person. (With every member of the group checking in at over 6 feet tall, I’m not even exaggerating about the giant bit, and this is coming from someone who isn’t exactly short!) I’m happy to report that these boys are every bit as silly and gorgeous in person as they are in all of their “마이 크나큰 텔레비전” videos. I’m even happier to report that their fans were just as excited about this fact as I was. I’m pretty sure KNK left New York knowing they’re very much loved by their U.S. fans.

Zion.T

Zion. T was next to walk the Red Carpet and all I can say about that man is, I’ve never, in all my life, come across anyone who possessed that much charisma. I’m not even sure how to describe what it was like, seeing Zion.T up close and in person. All I can say is, as soon as he walked in the room, all eyes went to him and he held the attention of every. single. person. the entire time he was on stage. He didn’t even have to say anything! He just stood there, looking fabulous, and everyone in the room just stood there in awe. Seriously, if I possessed a fraction of Zion.T’s coolness, I’d be the hippest cat in town!

GFRIEND

All eyes were on GFRIEND as they made their way down the Red Carpet Friday night. All smiles and waves, the girls (minus one) met their fans with as just as much enthusiasm as they received from their fans. Looking as gorgeous as ever, in their little black dresses, the girls promised the fans an exciting performance and asked us all to look forward to all that they had in store for us, later that evening. I’m happy to say, they didn’t disappoint!

SF9

FNC Entertainment’s rookie group was up next and I may have had kind of an internal moment the moment they walked out from behind that backstage curtain. I just couldn’t help myself! I’ve been a fan of SF9 since before they debuted so to see them walk the Red Carpet at KCON, not even a year after their official debut, brought out all sorts of proud fangirl feels. I felt like my kids had just kicked the winning goal in the big soccer game and I’m pretty sure I had a huge smile on my face (it was just hidden behind my camera). Of course pretty much everyone else in the room was feeling some sort of feels while SF9 was on stage because that room was ringing with cheers for these 9 charismatic boys.

HIGHLIGHT

While SF9 may have invoked all the proud fangirl feels in me, when HIGHLIGHT stepped out onto the Red Carpet those feels turned into a whole bunch of OH MY GIDDY FLIPPING AUNT I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M SEEING THESE GUYS IN REAL LIFE SOMEONE PINCH ME I THINK I’M GOING TO DIE feels! Needless to say, I very much enjoyed HIGHLIGHT’s time on the Red Carpet, mostly because they’re one of the groups on my “Must See Before I Die” list, but are also one of the groups I never actually thought I’d ever get to see. (Kind of like INFINITE… Expect I will probably never get to see them.) So what is it like to see HIGHLIGHT in person? Ummm… Unbelievable? Amazing? Indescribable? It’s kind of like looking at living legends. Standing in the same room with them, you can see quite plainly that they’re real and yet, you still have trouble believing that they are, in fact, real. I think if any one of them had come up to me and started talking to me, I would still have trouble believing he’s real. Needless to say, it was an evening I’ll never forget.

We want to hear what you think!
