Welcome back my dear ATK Magazine readers to the Korean Hip-Hop & RnB Corner. Thank you for all the kind words you sent my way via social media (make sure you follow me @young_ajummah) and hopefully you will continue to enjoy learning about the latest and the greatest Korean hip-hop and R&B.
March has been dubbed via social media “March Madness” with all the concerts being announced and artists performing on the same day, in multiple cities. How is a fan to choose? *sobs* Well I’m here to tell you that the casual and die-hard fans of hip-hop and R&B will not be left out in the cold. Be sure to check out the Concerts to See section of the article and get your wallets ready.
This month’s artist spotlight goes to Korean R&B singer Nieah. Nieah has released her full-length album called Timeless. The album consists of 5 songs that showcase her amazing vocal range and her producers’ talent to create smooth R&B tracks. Nieah has been making music since 2012 and is part of the music crew ChillWithUs. Other members of the ChillWithUs crew are Jay Dope and Mute, both who worked on Nieah’s latest release.
I first came across Nieah when creeping along in YouTube one night and was blown away by the soulfulness of her voice. Nieah credits her love of R&B to American singer Kelly Rowland. If you are into music by Crush and Zion.T, I urge you to check out Nieah and the rest of the ChillWithUs crew.
You can follow them on social media as well.
Have you heard of Nieah before this article? What is your favorite song of hers. Let me know in the comment section below!
KCON USA has released the dates for KCON NY and KCON LA. It’s hard to believe that this is the 6th year for the convention. Check out the dates below:
KCON NY: June 23-24
KCON LA: August 18-20
I don’t know about anyone else, but I am EXCITED! KCON is always a great time to gather around like-minded people, enjoy the music, food, and culture of a country that is different then yours and see some of your favorite artists. Let’s be honest here, seeing my favorite artist is my favorite part of KCON. Last year in New York they invited Dynamic Duo and Crush, among others, to perform to thousands of people at the Prudential Center. In L.A., Dean and Amber rocked the crowd.
The reason why I’m bringing up these artists is because they’re hip-hop/R&B artists. I am betting that for the 2017 convention, they will bring more. Not only that, I believe there will be an increase in hip-hop and R&B panels this year. What it takes to create a hip-hop song? Who is the next generation of R&B crooners? These are the panels that I’m interested in seeing.
What types of panels would you be interested in seeing? Let me know in the comment section below!
