Believe it or not – many of these filming locations are places you can visit on your next trip to Seoul! This guide provides a quick look at 10 iconic filming locations in Seoul.
1. Lotte World(롯데월드)

Located in the city center of Seoul, Lotte World is a unique theme park, with an indoor and outdoor section. The drama “Stairway to Heaven” (천국의 계단) brought this fantastical land to viewers’ attention with a beautiful plot and soundtrack. The story revolved around two star-crossed lovers, played by Kwon Sang-woo (권상우) and Choi Ji-woo (최미향), who were childhood best friends with similar tragic experiences. Lotte World became a special place where the two kids played around, especially on the carousel and the ice rink.
2. Mango Six (망고식스)
A coffee franchise started in Korea, Mango Six experiments with new trends in coffee and desserts. This store offers fresh juices, organic beverages, simple snacks, etc. The Mango Six branch near Gangnam (강남) was featured in “The Heirs” (상속자들). The main character, played by Park Shin-hye (박신혜), worked at Mango Six. At this place, the rich heir who took interest in her would frequently visit and wait for her, showing that their differences in socioeconomic backgrounds did not undermine their love.
3. Spazio Studio (스파지오 스튜디오)
Considered a wedding photoshoot in Seoul? Known for its gardens and decorative photo sets, Spazio Studio wedding studio was transformed into the Sun Restaurant for the drama “Oh My Ghostess” (오 나의 귀신님). Based in a restaurant, the drama followed the complicated romance between a star chef and an assistant chef, who grew sudden confidence after being possessed by a seductive female ghost.

In a heart-wrenching episode, the outdated movie star played by Jun Ji-hyun (전지현) waited lonely at the N Seoul Tower for her alien lover played by Kim Soo-hyun (김수현) to appear. In the show’s dream sequence, she fantasized about a romantic date at the N Seoul Tower, demonstrating the prominence of this tower as a common date spot.
5. Myeong-dong (명동)
The shopping center of Seoul, Myeong-dong showcases the most trendy and hottest Korean fashion items. In the “Princess Hour” (궁), a drama based in the alternate universe where the monarch still ruled modern Korea, the couple Yoon Eun-hye (윤은혜) and Ju Ji-hun (주지훈) finally professed their love as they kissed in Myeong-dong.
6. Shinsegae department store (신세계백화점)
Branded as the Korea’s 1st Department Store, the Shinsegae department store specializes in selling luxury branded goods. Right next to the store, Lee Jong-suk (이종석) and Park Shin-hye (박신혜) shared their first kiss in the drama “Pinocchio” (피노키오). This scene satisfied viewers’ wishes when Lee Jong-suk finally took action to show his affection for Park Shin-hye, the adorable girl who had hiccups whenever she lied.
7. Caffe Bene (카페베네)
As the largest coffeehouse in South Korea, Caffe Bene is a household name. In the branch near Hansung University (한성대학교), the spunky stuntwoman and wealthy CEO enacted the famous foam kiss in the modern day Cinderella drama “Secret Garden” (시크릿 가든).

The Presidential Residence of Cheong Wa Dae (청와대), the Blue House holds important historic significance. Fittingly, the drama “City Hunters” (시티헌터), centered on the bodyguards of the presidents, used the Blue House as the main plot site.
9. The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince (커피프린스 1호점)
How far would you go to get a job? In “The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince” (커피프린스 1호점), Yoon Eun-hye (윤은혜) pretended to be a guy in order to keep her job at a coffee shop owned by Gong Ji-chul’s (공지철) character. This coffee shop, the inspiration for the drama’s title, turned into a real operating coffee shop that you can visit.
10. Wolmido Island (월미도)
Last but certainly not least, this post must highlight a filming location the latest major K-drama hit “Descendants of the Sun” ( 태양의 후예). Although most of the drama’s filming spots are far from Seoul, you can visit Wolmido Island. The handsome leads, Song Joong-ki(송중기) and Jin Goo(진구), played in the shooting gallery at this theme park by the coast of Incheon.
