Summer Fashion in Korea

I’ve stalked all of my favorite Korean blogs, stores, and social media accounts to find what’s trendy in Korea this summer so you don’t have to! This summer is all about pastel colors, sporty vibes, and roomy clothes. Let’s take a look at some of the trendy items in Korea this summer!

Tennis Skirts

The number one trend I’ve noticed this summer is tennis skirts. Every Korean store and Instagram feed is full of them! Tennis skirts are the perfect mix of sporty and feminine. They’ve actually become a bit of a staple this summer. Try pairing one with a cute tee or tank, some sneakers, and a ball cap to complete this popular look!

Distressed Denim Shorts

Denim shorts are another summer staple in Korea; and this year, distressed shorts are particularly popular. You’ll notice a lot of idols have been wearing them, which has contributed to their popularity. (See Taeyeon’s new music video for an example.) Jean shorts are the perfect addition to any outfit since they’re so versatile. Try pairing them with an item that’s a little more out of your comfort zone for a new look.

Graphic Tees

Graphic t-shirts, specifically ringer ones, are also all over social media right now. They add the perfect touch of cuteness or sass to an outfit, depending on the design of the t-shirt. In Korea, you’ll see them tucked into a high-waisted skirt or jean cutoffs.

Off-shoulder Tops

A shirt that hangs off your shoulders adds the perfect touch of appeal, while still keeping you covered. You can expect to see them in airy fabrics, life chiffon, this summer. Try one in a printed fabric for some fun, or keep it classic with a simple color like in the second image! An off-shoulder top goes great with a skirt or shorts for a cool, yet collected summer look.

Strappy Tanks

A strappy tank top looks good with almost anything and it’s perfect for layering. You’ll notice a lot of Koreans wearing t-shirts under these tank tops, since the weather is milder there. However, plenty of people wear them without anything underneath as well. Either way goes!

Oversized White Blouses

If you’re not a fan of showing your shoulders, try an oversized white blouse. These are perfect for days you want to be comfy, but still look nice. Choose one in a light fabric to keep cool during the summer. Tuck it halfway into your shorts, like in the first picture, to emphasize your waistline or leave it loose. Oversized clothing, particularly in white, is really popular in Korea right now!

Loose Dresses

Continuing with the theme of oversized clothing, I’ve also seen a lot of loose, flowy dresses online. The trick is to keep the hemline above the knee so you don’t look like you’re drowning in fabric.^^ These dresses create a very cute, almost baby doll look. This is perfect for those days you can’t be bothered to put together an outfit. Just slip on some sandals and head out!

Platform Sandals

Speaking of sandals, you can find chunky sandals like these all over the streets of Seoul. The platform adds height without the discomfort of heels, while still maintaining all the benefits of ordinary sandals. These look perfect with a dress or skirt if you want to add a little edge to your look!

Slip-on Fashion Sneakers

Another shoe trend in Korea this summer is slip-on sneakers. These are great because the low cut looks chic, but they’ll also keep you comfortable on days you’ll be walking a lot. You can get them in any color and they go with almost every outfit—even a dress!

Cutesy Accessories

This article wouldn’t be complete without accessories, of course! I’ve rounded up four of the trendiest accessories (in my humble opinion. ^^)

  • Firstly, ball caps are great because they keep the sun out of your face, but they also come in lots of cute colors in Korea.
  • You’ll notice fruity accessories are a thing in Korea right now—like these adorable peach socks!
  • Of course, no summer look is complete without sunglasses. Mirrored sunnies are big in Korea right now.
  • Lastly, how perfect is this little strawberry purse?! It adds lots of personality to an outfit, while also holding your stuff!

Final Thoughts

Those are the biggest trends I’ve noticed in Korea this summer. What I love about Korean fashion is it’s very fun and unique. I personally already own several of these items! Will you be trying any of these? Tell me, what’s your favorite look?
