5. Angry Mom (앵그리맘)
With less than 2 months before school starts, what else should you do with your time but watch dramas? The question is, where do you start?
There are plenty of different dramas such as comedy, romantic, tragedy, musical, etc. so it may seem a bit of a challenge to figure out which drama to start with! Well as a master of K-dramas, I have 5 suggestions which you surely won’t regret watching.
Miss Panda and Mr. Hedgehog (판다양과 고슴도치)
The name itself is incredible cute as you think about the animals themselves and it makes you wonder if the drama itself is about animals. Don’t worry though, it’s definitely not! The drama stars include Choi Jin-Hyuk (최진혁), Lee Dong-hae (이동해) of Super Junior (슈퍼주니어), and Yoon Seung-Ah (윤승아).
The drama revolves around the concept of baking sweets, family, romance, and a tough of tragedy. The beginning of the drama is mostly lighthearted and funny, all while introducing the main characters to us (as well as their love triangle). However, once we get to know the characters well, then BAM they throw us a tragic story.
My favourite thing about this drama is that it takes the time to give us an emotional connection to all of the characters, not just the main characters. It also has those few characters who you may like more than the leads themselves!
It is a drama which makes you want to marathon it without missing a single episode!

School 2013 (학교 2013)
With the release of “Who are you: School 2015” people were left wondering about the previous versions of the “School” series.
School 2013 is one without romance in the slightest bit, but it is one which left a lasting impression. It is a drama which reminds you of high school, and it tells you that first impressions are sometimes wrong. It teaches a good life lesson, and it makes you laugh continuously and cry with the characters as it shows each of their own hardships they go through.
This is another drama which I highly suggest watching!

This drama reminds me of Dream High (드림하이), but with a twist. The plot involves a superstar going to a regular school, where he meets a certain girl…. well the rest of the story is self-explanatory.
Throw in music, mixed with a school scenery, some romance, and you can’t forget the group of misfits. The reaction is a drama a bit like Dream High, but with lesser known actors and actresses! The part which was my favourite about this drama was the hidden talents that each of the “misfits” had. It was certainly a surprise!
This drama didn’t have a high percentage of viewers so the series was shortened but the rest of the episodes make up for that!

Super Daddy Yeol (슈퍼대디 열)
On this list, I would say this drama is one of the saddest dramas, but they continuously try to bring in comedic moments. The story revolves around a dying mother who wants to find a father-figure for her daughter, so she turns to the man whose heart she broke years ago.
The drama is full of family fun, lighthearted moments, humor, and even some romance! Each of the drama’s characters brings something more to the story and in the end you will be feeling bittersweet since it is over.
This is one drama you will definitely cry to, but it is worth it!

Angry Mom (앵그리맘)
Despite being number 5 on my list, I highly suggest you watch this tearjerker! WARNING! You may want to have a box of tissues beside you when you marathon this!
The drama itself is hard to explain in a couple of sentences, but it has mystery, romance, comedy, drama, and tragedy. The main character is a mother who wants to help her daughter out in school, and while doing so she unravels a horrible secret.
The drama keeps you guessing as to who the bad guys really are! And there are some betrayals throughout this drama too. All in all, I would nominate this drama for an award. It definitely deserves “Drama of the Year”.

If you are needing some quality Korean drama time to help make the summer last longer, I highly suggest watching these dramas! These five dramas will give you a warm feeling on the inside, all while you laugh and cry with each of the characters.
Editor’s note: Have you seen any of these dramas? What K-dramas are you marathoning this summer?
