Hey K-pop lovers! Toronto has another treat for you! DJ Koo – one of the top DJs in Asia – is coming to Toronto this Friday for a fabulous “K-pop celebrity party” at the Guvernment. If you are a long-time fan of K-pop, you might know DJ Koo – whose real name is Koo Jun Yup (구준엽) – from Clon (클론), one of the original K-pop groups from the 1990s. DJ Koo made the move to a solo career after a tragic motorcycle accident left Kang Won Rae, the other member of Clon, in a wheelchair.

Before I started writing this article, I didn’t think I had listened to any of Clon or DJ Koo’s music before but I can’t write an article about music without listening to it first. So I hopped on over to YouTube and started listening. Turns out I was familiar with some of Clon’s songs including this one! Yeah, I really do listen to a lot of Korean music 😛

And while I wasn’t as familiar with DJ Koo’s solo work, what I’ve heard of it rocks. He’s an amazing DJ in the YouTube videos so live at his upcoming K-pop celebrity party in Toronto… he’s gonna be amazing! I can’t wait!! Want to sample some of his solo work, check out this video.

So don’t worry if you aren’t all that familiar with DJ Koo, just strap on your dancing shoes and head on over to the Guvernment on Friday. It’s going to be a rocking dance party all night long… well, not all night… this is Toronto. Man, I miss dancing in Hongdae all night! But it will still be a fantastic night while it lasts. So don’t miss out on your chance to dance the night away with DJ Koo!!

Because of this post, I went and searched Clon on youtube…they have some nice songs. Also, due to searching for Clon, I discovered another group – Take. A ballad group as far as I can tell…can’t find a lot of information about them though. Anyways, looking forward to this event ^^
